You’re sooooo close to submitting that article…
but something is holding you back.
It’s NOT that:
- You’re not smart enough
- You always procrastinate
- You don’t have time
The great news is that what is standing in your way can be removed in just 3 days.
Even better: we can do this TOGETHER!
(especially if you’re a woman, nonbinary person, and/or person of color, who is simultaneously fighting the racist, ableist, patriarchal culture of academia while trying to succeed within it–I got you!)
Here’s what others are saying about the workshop
In this workshop you’ll learn:
- How to know if your article is really as close to “done” as you think it is
- The difference between writing problems and writing tasks–and the different project management approaches each requires
- How to create and execute a work plan that will end with article submission
- How to estimate the amount of time it actually takes to complete writing task
…PLUS hours of writing time BUILT IN to the workshop so that you are working to submit with the support of community.
Workshop details:
WHEN:
The workshop will be held over 3 sessions on 3 days:
- Monday, August 3, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST / 7:00 AM-10:00 AM PST
- Wednesday, August 5, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST / 7:00 AM-10:00 AM PST
- Friday, August 7, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST / 7:00 AM-10:00 AM PST
Different concepts will be covered in all 3 sessions, so you’ll want to attend all 3 to submit your article by the end of the third session. We’ll spend about half of each session learning and workshopping, and half the session writing. All sessions will be recorded and uploaded so that you have more than 24 hours to catch up with a previous session if you can’t make it live.
WHERE:
Our private Zoom room. The link will be emailed to you prior to the first session.
WHO IT’S FOR:
Women and nonbinary university professors at any stage of their career, post-docs, and full-time researchers who have at least TWO nearly-done article drafts (you can have more!) and who have published an academic article before. During the first day of the workshop you’ll learn how to assess your almost-done articles and choose the ONE you will work to submit by the end of the 3 days of workshops. This is NOT a workshop for newbie academic writers!
The pressures of everything you have to juggle in academia right now have been cutting into your ability to submit articles…but this workshop will FINALLY teach you a method to master your writing project management skills so that you can SUBMIT.

A bit about Cathy Mazak (that’s me!)
Anyone who’s taken my programs will tell you the same thing: I deeply believe that we must fundamentally change the way we work in academia. Too many amazing scholars are burning out or living miserably. I do NOT teach your advisor’s “productivity” methods!
The world needs your best brain and your unique voice influencing your field. I’ve made it my entire job to support you in developing a sustainable writing practice and the project management skills to publish your backlog of papers.
It’s not easy, but is possible. And when we learn together in community, it is powerful!
It’s not easy, but is possible. And when we learn together in community, it is powerful!
In case you’re wondering:
“What if I’m not a professor or full-time researcher? Or what if I don’t have more than one almost-done article to choose from, or I’ve never published an article in a peer-reviewed journal before?”
This workshop IS for you if…
Got questions? Here are the answers:
Do I need to be at all 3 sessions? Or can I choose from one of the 3 dates?
I’ll be presenting different material at each of the sessions, so you’ll need to watch all three, preferably in order, to submit your article by the end of the three workshops. You do not, however, need to attend any of them (or all of them) live. If you can be there live, awesome! That way you’ll be able to get your specific questions answered.
What if I’m not happy with the workshop? Can I get my money back?
No, but I will give you your money back if you submit your article by the end of the final workshop. Yes, I WILL REFUND YOU if you submit. How’s that for incentive?
Can you guarantee that I’ll submit an article by the end of the workshop?
Nope, sorry! Only YOU can guarantee that! What I do promise, however, is that you walk away from this workshop with a clear understanding of how to figure out how much work is left before submission, and the beginning of a process for estimating your time-to-task based on data. I also promise that we will hold 4-6 hours of writing time together during the workshop, so you have focused time blocked for writing.
I’ve been writing and publishing in academia for a long time. What if I come to the workshop and then find I already know everything covered?
If you’ve had success keeping your publication pipeline flowing without too many long pauses, then this workshop probably isn’t for you.
What’s the difference between this workshop and your signature course?
Everything we’ll cover in this workshop is also covered in my signature 12-week program, Navigate: Your Writing Roadmap®, but Navigate goes way deeper. Navigate teaches you a method to publish your backlog of papers, so it covers publication pipeline management, time management, and building a sustainable writing practice.
In the process, Navigate teaches you a whole new way to approach your academic career, working on skills but also mindset around managing your workload and getting your voice heard loudly in your field. We work on this in live group coaching calls.
Finally, I’m constantly updating Navigate to reflect my latest writing practice innovations and to respond to the changing culture of academia. It’s not easy in academia right now, and Navigate provides the support and community you’ll need to continue to create the career you deeply desire.
If you love the workshop and want to continue working with me to clear your entire backlog of papers, you’ll receive a special invitation to join our next cohort of Navigate during the workshop. If you decide to enroll in Navigate, we’ll be offering discounted pricing inside the workshop that is more than 10X the cost of the workshop itself!
And here’s the fine print
…which I’m making quite large because I always want to be completely upfront with you:
No refunds for this workshop will be granted for any reason. Space is limited which means that if you decide to take one of the spots, it’s yours even if you do not attend.
Because the sessions will be recorded, you’ll still learn a ton from watching the recordings several months after the live workshop is over!
Ready to submit that almost-done article?
