A new, better way to academic.

Who we are and why we work

We are a diverse team of scholars, community-builders, caretakers, partners, moms, and womxn who dreamt about a different way to be in academia–and then created it. We are changing the racist, ableist, patriarchal culture of academia by supporting you to thrive in your career on your own terms. We believe that your singular voice–your contribution to academia–needs to be heard louder than ever and we surround you with the coaching, strategies, and the support you need to step into your power. Inside Scholar’s Voice, we honor our values, we speak with conviction and frankness, and we do work we love every day: helping you build a better way to experience academia.

Is your writing always falling to the bottom of the to-do list?

I get it!!! Getting published is the currency of academia, so why can’t we seem to find time to write?
There are so many reasons why your writing might (and sometimes will!) fall to the bottom of the list. That is OK. There are seasons for everything in life and those seasons will guide some of those ups and downs. Sometimes, your writing will fall through the cracks when unexpected things, like dealing with health issues or caring for loved ones, happen. At Scholar’s Voice, we help you create systems that leverage your skills, perspective and experience so that you feel prepared and ready to get back to writing no matter which season you’re in.

Are you feeling guilty when taking (well-deserved!) breaks?

We live in a culture that glorifies overwork and it’s time for it to go!
No matter how much or how little you feel you have accomplished, you deserve rest. Read that again! Tattoo it on your arm if you need to! Rest looks different for each of us but the need for breaks is universal. At Scholar’s Voice, we encourage you to leave the guilt behind when you close that office door, hit the trail, go out to lunch, or pack that suitcase, and we have strategies to help you level up your break time!

Are you struggling to find success in academia on your own terms?

Let’s face it: the current culture of academia was not built for us.
When I was a professor, it all felt so mysterious to me–like others had secret knowledge that I couldn’t access! Feeling like an outsider in academia is common, but the good news is that there’s a different, better way to do it. We can help you find the right path for you, and follow it with passion–and without fear.

Do you want to build a positive relationship with your writing?

It’s about time we became the writers we were always meant to be.
Do you find yourself dreading your writing time? Does the thought of writing bring more frustration than joy? Is your writing more slogging than soaring? At Scholar’s Voice, we want to help you change that! By building a stronger, more positive relationship with your writing, not only can you produce the writing you are longing to put out into the world, but you can do so in ways that make room for enjoyment and ease.
