Why We’re Retiring Our Elevate Mid-Career Program
The Elevate program is retiring! Elevate was designed to help post-tenure academics, but these clients needed help with the same writing and publication issues as pre-tenure professors.
MORE DETAILS
Despite the success of this program since its inception in 2019, it has become clear that the skills addressed in Navigate are essential to every career stage. So, to tighten up the mission of our business and better align our coaching programs with my goals, it is necessary to consolidate our offerings.
There will be one final Elevate cohort starting October 24, 2023. This last series will also launch a new private podcast and video series to better support writing and publication initiatives. I want to thank everyone who has participated in Elevate in the past, and this is not the end of our legacy or leadership coaching.
I look forward to you all joining me in our new programs!
Why is Elevate Retiring?
Elevate is retiring so that we can focus attention and energy on the Navigate program. Navigate is about writing and publications which align better with my mission for the business. So while I am interested and passionate about the leadership and legacy aspect of mid-to-late career academics, my true passion is writing and publication.
There was some overlap between people in the Navigate and Elevate programs, but they genuinely serve two different clients. So the choice to retire the Elevate program is about tightening up the mission of the business to help brilliant and overworked academics get their writing and publications done.
The Final Elevate Cohort
We will offer a final round of Elevate named the “Legacy Cohort.” This cohort will start on October 24, and I am excited to announce that I will lead the coaching for this special final round! Signing up for the Elevate waitlist will give you exclusive access to our new “Midyear Magic” private podcast and video series.
Pre & Post Tenure Is Not As Different As You Think
We realized we were reinforcing a false distinction between pre and post-tenure through the structure of the Amplify, Elevate, and Navigate programs. Academics need help with the same problems in every coaching program because tenure will not solve anything.
While tenure will provide additional job security, it will not resolve a clogged publication pipeline or a bad relationship with writing. The foundational skills addressed in Navigate, like project and writing management, will persist into the post-tenure career season if they aren’t worked on early. As a result, it became abundantly apparent that all academics need to go through Navigate first, and any subsequent programs should be designed for Navigate graduates only.
“I’m not closing the program because it wasn’t effective or because it wasn’t great or because I didn’t love running it. In fact, all of those things are true. It was very effective. It was maybe one of my favorite programs to run, but it is time for me to walk my talk. The real reason that I am retiring the Elevate program is that I am focusing my attention, energy, and brain on the Navigate program and on writing and publishing.”
“Another reason for retiring Elevate is that we realized that everybody who does any program with us needs to do Navigate first. Navigate is the foundation for anything else we might do later. So regarding closing Elevate there will be another program, but it will be another program that is only for Navigate grads because we realized in giving both Amplify and Elevate we were too complex.”
We will run one last cohort of Elevate this 2023 (after that, we’re retiring the program) . Check out the program details and get on the waitlist here.
